Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is described as being dedicated to exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants. It is one of the premier conservation and education-based gardens in the world. With 45,000 members and over 1,200 volunteers, Fairchild plays many roles, including museum, laboratory, learning center and conservation research facility, but its greatest role is preserving biodiversity, which the garden’s scientists, staff and volunteers all contribute to on a daily basis. The garden also showcases art exhibitions and concerts each year. Currently, “Chihuly at Fairchild: A Garden of Glass” features the art of Dale Chihuly throughout the garden. It is the artist’s largest and most comprehensive exhibition to date. Nestled within Fairchild’s 83 acres, Chihuly’s spectacular glass sculptures can be discovered as you walk the beautiful grounds.
R and I had so much fun riding the tram together and I loved watching him chase after the butterflies in the butterfly conservatory. What a beautiful day at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens!
