St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm

We spent an afternoon at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm, a fossil site and museum that has preserved thousands of dinosaur footprints at the original site of discovery. In February of 2000, the site was discovered by accident by a local optometrist who was excavating his property. Today, the site contains the most numerous and best preserved dinosaur tracks with thousands of fossilized dinosaur footprints, and preserves a 200 million year old lake ecosystem that includes dinosaurs, fishes, plants, sedimentary structures, and other animals. There is also a fantastic children’s exhibit in a classroom full of hands-on activities which our boys loved!

Cole spied the DeLorean in one of the museum’s prehistoric murals:

R kept busy with coloring dinosaur fossils in the kid’s classroom – I have never seen him pay so much attention and detail to coloring before! And S loved the museum’s giant toy triceratops! The animatronic dinosaur roars, blinks, wags its tail, and makes chomping noises while moving its mouth…

Showing off our dino artistry…
