Back to the Future: The Musical at Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota

We had an AMAZING night seeing Cole’s talented cousin perform in the Broadway musical Back to the Future on tour now! We had the best time and the kids thought the DeLorean was so awesome! It was our first time at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Minneapolis and our kids’ first time to a Broadway show. We were so lucky to be able to go and it was an epic experience and extra fun knowing a member of the cast! We were able to meet up with Cole’s cousin at the stage door outside the theater and the kids loved giving her a bouquet of flowers to congratulate her on a fabulous performance and asked for her autograph on the musical’s playbill! Such a fun night!

The Historic Orpheum Theatre opened in 1921 with a seating capacity for 2,579 patrons. It is the largest of four restored theaters on Hennepin Avenue along with the State Theatre, the Pantages Theatre, and the Shubert Theatre (now The Cowles Center). The Orpheum was designed by the Milwaukee firm of Kirchoff and Rose in a Beaux Arts style and was billed as the largest vaudeville house in the country when it opened. Its first performers included the Marx Brothers with more than 70,000 guests attending the opening week run and has been a major host through the years to entertainers, big bands, movie premiers, dance troupes, and touring Broadway productions. Bob Dylan, who owned The Orpheum from 1979 to 1988, sold it to the City of Minneapolis which in 2005 transferred ownership to the Hennepin Theatre Trust, now known as Hennepin Arts.
