Jeppe Hein’s Appearing Rooms Fountain in London, England

London this week has been hot, hot, hot! I wanted to take the kids somewhere to splash and play for free. Jeppe Hein’s Appearing Rooms Fountain at Southbank Centre turned out to be the perfect way to cool down, have a picnic lunch, and enjoy a hot summer day! My kids loved it so much it is now one of their favorite spots in London!

Appearing Rooms is an interactive water pavilion created by Danish artist Jeppe Hein. The playful aquatic sculpture is programmed to shoot walls of water that rise and fall unpredictably to create square rooms. Visitors can move from each of the spaces as the walls randomly change.
