Hope everyone enjoyed the aurora borealis show tonight!
We got a notification on our phone from the FREE app called “My Aurora Forecast”. It said there was a high chance of seeing the aurora along with many reported sightings in our immediate area. So instead of putting the kids to bed, we all threw on our coats then jumped into the car. We drove north for about 15 minutes then turned down a quiet country road. We pulled over and walked out into the middle of a field. The aurora borealis was dancing right above us!
The Northern Lights were more vibrant and colorful than I have ever seen before! It was really amazing. We captured the moment with a few photos and had fun looking towards the night sky! It was pure magic.
Things to Know:
*Check the Kp index, solar wind, and cloud coverage forecast in your area
*My Aurora Forecast is a FREE app with aurora borealis map, forecasts, reported sightings, and option to receive notifications sent to your phone.
*Find a location away from city lights such as a state park, quiet lake, or dirt road in the countryside.
*We used our DSLR and iPhones for photos
*Don’t forget your tripod for photography
*Be patient, dress warm, and have fun!
