Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Aside from the Hong Kong temple open house when I was in elementary school, the first time I ever went into the temple was here in LA. My family lived here for a year and the first time I ever went was to do service with my youth group from church. It was also fun to visit because Cole’s parents were married here. The kids loved visiting the temple grounds, gardens, and fountains. We also enjoyed the visitor center. I always love making time to see the temple whenever we travel!

Things to Know:

*Visitor center, grounds, and gardens are open to the public.

*Dedicated on March 11, 1956 by Church President David O. McKay.

*First temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be built on the West Coast.

*The 13-acre site is located on Santa Monica Blvd in the Westwood district of Los Angeles.

*The grounds are adorned with a variety of plants such as Canary Island Pine trees, palm trees, Bird of Paradise trees, olive trees and Chinese Ginkgo trees.

*The temple grounds are all decorated at Christmastime with thousands of lights.
