Manhattan Beach

On our way to the airport we said our goodbyes as Cole took S on Delta and I planned to fly Spirit Airlines with R. After a long wait, Spirit finally cancelled our flight home. We were stranded in LA! We waited in busy lines to speak to ticketing agents, booked a hotel, and caught a hotel airport shuttle bus. Finally after all the trouble, we made it to the Hilton LAX. Poor R was so tired and missed his dad and brother so much. Me too little man!

It turns out we weren’t the only ones with an adventurous night. S was sick the entire flight and Cole really earned his dad stripes by holding and comforting his queasy toddler the whole way home. S was so wiped out the next day and slept for hours. The good news was R and I had another sunny day in LA and our hotel had access to a shuttle to Manhattan Beach! First time I ever tried surfing was right here at Manhattan Beach. It was back on New Year’s Day and the waves were huge.

R loved watching surfers from the pier. We visited Roundhouse Aquarium located at the end of Manhattan Beach pier. It is a perfect place for little ones to learn about sea life. R touched colorful starfish, shark teeth, and a squishy sea cucumber.

Great views! R watched and critiqued the surfers…”that one was good! That one was not so good…”

After a day at the beach and snacking on guacamole and chips, it was time to fly home to Minnesota. We were exhausted!
