Wat Chedi Luang & the Sunday Market

Sunday, December 29: I slept all night through! Woke up and made myself breakfast (assortment of Thai fruit, toast and juice) and enjoyed the morning view of Chiang Mai from the balcony. We took a songthaew (a pickup truck used as a shared taxi) then walked to visit some wats (a Buddhist monastery or temple). Our first stop was Wat Chedi Luang which was constructed in the 14th century. Mom and I of course forgot and wore shorts and had to rent sarongs in order to enter. It was a beautiful place and we enjoyed a nice visit. Afterwards we had lunch (curry, rice, sunflower sprouts, pineapple shrimp and lemonade), got foot massages, walked by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints meeting house, visited the Sunday market, took a tour of the most lovely hotel, and enjoyed a delicious zaru soba and tempura dinner. At home later that night there was rain and lightning and thunder, I was able to FaceTime Cole and the boys, take a nice shower, then was off to bed!
