Winter in Harbin, China

Far up in northeastern China you’ll find the city of Harbin. Located in Heilongjiang Province which borders Russia, Harbin is widely known for its bitter cold winters. Temperatures here can get as low as -30 degrees! So why do people visit here in January? Winter in Harbin is actually considered high tourist season. This little city in China is home to one of the largest snow and ice festivals in the world which officially kicks of the first week of January and goes until the spring. Because of its subzero temperatures, Harbin is the ideal place for creating some of the most impressive snow and ice sculptures in the world.
