Summer in England: Afternoon Tea at The Abbey Hotel & Church of St. James in Southstoke in Bath

C picks everyone up at noon for a surprise for V’s birthday, we drive and park then walk to The Abbey Hotel for afternoon tea for V’s birthday! It was the most beautiful afternoon tea! V loves her tea and finishes it all up! The cakes and finger sandwiches were exquisite – scones and clotted cream and jelly were out of this world! We walk back through Bath City Center and it begins to rain, we shop in Marks & Spencer for a while then walk in the rain to a toy store and shop there while it rains for another while longer. The boys loved all the toys. After shopping for a while we finally decide to walk through the rain back to the car, but luckily for us by then it stops raining! Later in the evening, we drive to a little church in a cute village 15 mins away where our friend’s family is from. It is so beautiful and we enjoy the peace and quiet and scenery from the church yard. The boys love finding all the slugs outside in the church yard! We walk the footpath and enjoy the views of the English countryside. It is such a gorgeous night! On our way home we came upon the picturesque Dundas Aqueduct which carries the Kennet and Avon Canal over the River Avon. We take the steps down and have a nice chat with some locals. When we return home and walk to Morrison’s to pick up groceries for dinner – and end up feeding the kids fresh oranges and cold cereal for dinner lol. After the kids go to bed, V and C make stream carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and roasted baby potatoes with butter and herbs and baked chicken pot pie for V and shepherds pie for C. Then we enjoy a nice night together. Goodnight!
