Father’s Day at Mount Rushmore

Sunday, June 21: Happy Father’s Day! In the morning we checked out of our hotel and drove from Rapid City to our campsite in the Black Hills. We set up the tent and campsite, then drove to Mount Rushmore! R and S completed the National Park’s Junior Ranger Program, we all ate Thomas Jefferson’s famous ice cream, we chatted with the sister missionaries from our church, hiked the Presidential Trail, visited the Sculpture Studio, and after completing all of the assignments both R and S earned their Junior Ranger badges! This was S’s first badge, and R’s second (after Badlands National Park last year). They were so excited and so very proud of their hard work! We had dinner at the Mount Rushmore visitor center, then drove back to the campsite. Everyone was off to bed and Vanessa froze in the middle of the night.
