As soon as V reads about Greenwich, she decides she must take the kids for a day trip! V and the boys take the overground from Clapham Junction and train then bus to Greenwich. First stop is to see the Cutty Sark, a clipper ship that sailed between London and Shanghai carrying tea. The boys absolutely loved it! They couldn’t believe their eyes when they first saw the ship. The kids even see and practice reading Chinese characters on the ship. After taking a self guided tour we stayed and had a snack below the ship and then from there we walked over to the National Maritime Museum where the boys played until closing. The exhibits are really fantastic for kids and museum admission is free for everyone! After the museum’s closing, we walked to see a giant ship in a bottle just outside. It was a beautiful sunny day so I took the kids for a walk through Greenwich Park and we ended up at the playground. The playground is truly epic! It is huge and the kids have so much fun. We play until Cole meets us after work and together we walk to the Royal Observatory on the hill looking over the park. We enjoy the amazing view from the top. We find the brass prime meridian line in the courtyard which divides the eastern and western hemispheres. We walk back through Greenwich Park and bus to the Golden Chippy for the best fish and chips! After our delicious dinner, we head home on the bus then train, and put kids to bed. What a great day out in Greenwich!
