Our breakfast is delivered to our door by a man on a bike from Deliveroo. Our son says “How French!” Fresh croissants, pain au chocolate, and baguette that we eat together at the breakfast table. We get ready to train to see Napoleon’s tomb and the War Museum before climbing the steps of the Eiffel Tower. It’s a beautiful sunny day! We train to Les Invalides and walk the gardens before going in to see Napoleon’s tomb. In the garden outside the museum our youngest loves looking for rocks. We go inside and see the giant tomb of Napoleon, then tour the Musée de l’Armée. The boys especially loved the swords and armor, world war exhibits, and fun paper Napoleon hats given to them by the museum staff. We finish up the museum and get a bite to eat at the cafe before jumping on a bus to the Eiffel Tower. We walk through security at the Eiffel Tower and take the stairs. The kids LOVED going up all the stairs to the 1st and then 2nd floors of the Eiffel Tower! Even our 3 year old walked every single step of the 674 steps up (and then back down!) The views from the 2nd level were amazing, and we had perfect weather! The boys played with the telescopes and our youngest bought his one souvenir at the gift shop at the top – a miniature Eiffel Tower! We have a snack up at the top, take pictures, have a bathroom break (have you ever used the toilet at the top of the Eiffel Tower?) then hiked back down all the stairs. It was a really fun, and a Fourth of July we will always remember! We then walked from the Eiffel Tower to Cafe du Marche on Rue de Cler. These were some of the most beautiful streets in Paris. The sunshine, the cool breeze, the shade from the trees. We sit and people watch and the kids each get a Nutella crepe with their dinner, and I got my French onion soup I was craving! It is so funny to be back at this restaurant again but this time with our kids! Dinner takes all evening as to be expected (lately we have been planning on at least 2.5 hours each meal in Paris) and we leave when it’s dark. We walk home on the beautiful Paris streets at night. The bright moon in the night sky, Paris city lights shining, people eating outside in the pleasant weather. We take the train back home and put the kids to bed, and discover that we can actually see the Eiffel Tower from our Airbnb’s roof top patio! Cole and I watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle and its spotlight spin on top. Happy Fourth of July!
