Tuesday, February 5: My cousin introduces us to Kono’s for lunch, grab sandwiches to go (slow cooked pork sandwiches, chips, and smoothies). Drive to Hawaii Kai and eat lunch on beach behind beautiful homes. Shallow clear water goes for miles, people walk out and fish in the shallow water. So pretty! After lunch drive to a neighborhood, park and hike up above Hanauma Bay. Stunning views! Hanauma Bay is peaceful and quiet – closed on Tues! No one around. Perfect. Hike to end of the trail, amazing views of the deep blue ocean, Hawaiian coast, and even other islands. Hike back down trail, boys tired and hungry (didn’t eat their lunch), feed snacks in the car. It’s 4pm and Cole insists we drive to Waimanalo. He is determined to boogie board in waves. We play on the beach while Cole body surfs. It’s windy, and getting late. V goes back to car to take care of baby while C rides a few more waves. While in the car, V sees everyone coming back from the beach. C says he was stung by a jelly fish! V thinks a little brush against his ankle or something. C shows horrible bright red wounds all over his body! A Portuguese Man O’ War wrapped its tentacle around C’s waist and arm with blue barbs stuck in his skin! C obviously in pain, pack everything fast, drive thru McD’s happy meals for boys to eat on the drive home, researching treatment for Man O’ War stings, drug store, home, tweeze barbs out, thank goodness for my cousin for helping so much with the boys! Soak C in super hot bath and take meds, put boys to bed, what a day!
