Hiking the Apostle Islands, Wisconsin: Meyers Beach Sea Caves Trail

After setting up our tent at the Apostle Islands campsite, we make lunch then drive to Meyers Beach to hike the Sea Caves Trail. The scenery is gorgeous! It’s a windy day and we can hear the blue Lake Superior waves crashing into the red sandstone sea cliffs below. We snack on gorp while taking a break at “The Bowl” to enjoy the view. We hike back and play an epic game of “Would You Rather” on the way with the kids. They had the best answers that made us laugh. We visit the beach after the hike and play in the water and skip rocks. As the sun starts to set we return to our campsite, prep a fire, coals, and make dinner. We bake biscuits over the campfire and the kids fill them with Nutella, whipped cream, peanut butter, and Hershey’s chocolate. The kids LOVED them so much and say they like them even better than s’mores! We take turns telling scary stories around the campfire, and share funny camping trip memories. After staying up way too late, we clean up and get ready for bed. A great first day hiking at the Apostle Islands!
