Hiking the Fire Wave Trail: Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada

Over the Thanksgiving break, we stopped for a hike in Valley of Fire State Park on our drive from Las Vegas, Nevada to St. George, Utah. This beautiful State Park is located only 50 mins drive from Las Vegas. Although we drive by here every time we make the trip, this was actually our first time stopping to visit. We decided to hike the “Fire Wave” trail which turned out to be the perfect easy and quick hike with kids. The trails is very family-friendly and we noticed it was also very welcoming to dogs.

The popular trail is renowned for the stunning views, colorful desert scenery, and the “Fire Wave” sandstone rock formation featuring vibrant orange, pink, and red stripes which are especially pretty at golden hour.
