Labor Day Weekend in Door County

We spent Labor Day weekend camping, hiking, and playing on the beach in Door County, Wisconsin. Located on the peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan, Door County is named after the French phrase “Port des morts” or “Death’s Door” which refers to the treacherous passage between the northern point of the peninsula and Washington Island which is now scattered with shipwrecks. The New York Times called Door County “the Cape Cod of the Midwest” but one local said, “We call Cape Cod the Door County of the Northeast.” We fell in love with the area and had the most magical weekend together as a family. Can’t wait to go back!

Cliff diving and kayaking. Cave Point County Park was definitely one of my favorite spots!
