Kicking off our road trip back home to Minnesota! We drove from Salt Lake City to Little America, Wyoming. Family met us there and we ate dinner, explored the gift shop, and had their delicious 75 cent (giant) soft serve ice cream cone! The kids loved Little America so much and to this day ask if we can go back! We drove through snow in Wyoming where V got pulled over (but let off with a warning and souvenir key chain and stickers for the kids). We were surprised to drive by Martin’s Cove and Independence Rock, the historic landmark along the Oregon Trail. It was wickedly cold, windy, and snowing. We read about the members of the Martin Handcart Company who traveled here on their way to Salt Lake City. We stayed the night in Mitchell, South Dakota and in the morning we were lucky enough to snag appointments for our first dose of the COVID vaccine at the local Walmart since there is not a high demand for vaccines in South Dakota! We continued on our way through a town called Welcome, Minnesota – and after our long, epic road trip out west, it was indeed a happy WELCOME to be back in Minnesota!
We were able to get our first COVID vaccines as we drove through South Dakota!
