Notes from Tuesday, January 29: Drive to the North Shore! Boys singing Jungle Book song “Wanna Be Like You” all the way in back of minivan. Stop at Haleiwa park for snacks and “see Pacific Ocean.” Drive to a couple different beaches, but end up at Waimea. Big waves, watch surfers, S sword fights with sticks, R and Cole chase waves. Watching waves and surfers all day! Cole contemplates going out with boogie board. We play and watch surfers some more. Baby H falls asleep in carrier. Finally all 5 of us get pummeled by a giant wave! Cole saves R, Vanessa holds onto S, Baby H starts crying! Head back to van, soaking wet, dry up, load up. Drive to Giovanni’s shrimp truck for scampi shrimp plate to share. Delicious! Wild roosters and chickens in the parking lot everywhere. Go to Matsumoto’s shave ice. Remodeled and without a super long line! Boys LOVE it! Eat on the bench outside. Load up, drive home. Beautiful green mountains. Home, shower, ready for bed. We read Chronicles of Narnia in bed. Sweet dreams!
