Paradise Island

Every morning we woke up to beautiful sunshine and warm weather. R would wake up and say “I want to go! Go! Go!” He was so excited to get out and play on the beach every day. We loved the beautiful water and our hotel’s private beach in the Bahamas. Our hotel also provided beach toys for the kids – lots of buckets and shovels for digging and building sand castles. R would take us by the hand and pull us into the water. He always wanted to go swimming and especially loved having me hold him while Cole chased us around.

Time for some rest and relaxation on the beach:

Hanging out by the hotel swimming pool:

Food is really expensive in the Bahamas because everything has to be imported. We shopped at the local food market when we didn’t want to go out to eat…

The hotel had a fabulous fitness center – and as you can see the instructor was really good (looking) too!

Walking around downtown Nassau’s shopping district and straw market:

Taking the ferry to Paradise Island…we saw a lot of beach homes owned by celebrities, including Mick Jagger and Nicholas Cage:

This beach house was used in the filming of one of Sean Connery’s James Bond movies:

The Atlantis Hotel and Casino on Paradise Island. The “bridge” connecting the two parts of the hotel is actually a suite which has accommodated many affluent celebrities and politicians such as President Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Michael Jackson.

Afternoon playing at Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island:

Lots of great shopping and Christmas decorations in and around the Atlantis. Also a lot of luxurious yachts:

Back in downtown Nassau, we explored the local shopping mall. We enjoyed the Bahamian version of the Dollar Store. We binged on these tasty coconut cream cookies almost every night!

Another beautiful morning with our toes in the sand, making sandcastles, chasing seagulls, and swimming in the clear aquamarine water.

Blue skies and blue waters:

Refreshments at the Tiki Bikini Hut on Junkanoo Beach:
