Paris, France with Kids: Place des Vosges & The Conciergerie

Cole and the boys left early to see the Bastille, then Place des Vosges (the oldest planned square in Paris). V gets ready and cleans up at home then gets on the city bus to meet the boys at the park. The boys are busy playing in the sandpit and so happy to meet up with them! It’s a beautiful park and the weather is sunny and hot. The kids go cool off in the shade of the trees and have fun playing with the fountain. Near the park is the museum of Victor Hugo’s apartment. We take the self guided tour of the museum and it is absolutely beautiful! The museum is free and as a bonus restrooms are available. After the tour, we walk through Le Marais, the famous and historical Jewish Quarter of Paris. It such a fun area to walk through with so many fantastic restaurants and gorgeous alleys. We stop to eat Nutella crepes for a snack, and see so many people in line for the famous falafel stand! It is such a great place for shopping and food. We walk through the quiet and pretty Sully courtyard which looks like a Loire Valley chateaux and continue on our walk to Hotel de Vile (the city hall of Paris). After sightseeing it’s time to walk over to Conciergerie for our tour. The kids enjoy the children’s audio and virtual reality tour, but their favorites were definitely the funny selfie photos! We also see Marie Antoinnette’s prison, read, and learn a lot on the tour. In the evening, we walk to the Galerie Vivienne shopping arcade and on the way we stop and play in a water mister, splash pad, and visit St. Eustache Cathedral. The shopping arcade is beautiful and we have dinner at a cute restaurant inside. The food was incredible and probably the best meal we have had in Paris: tomato buffalo mozzarella salad, chicken and roasted apricot and vegetables with fries, croque monsieur with fries, and baguette. Everything was so tasty! After dinner we walk to the Metro and train home. We treat ourselves to ice cream bars on the patio in the sunshine.
