At this point in our trip we started to make our way back towards England. From Austria we passed through Germany, saw the Rhine Valley (which was absolutely incredible) and stayed in the old medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We stayed at the cute Hotel Cafe Uhl. Rothenburg is surrounded by a city wall and the only way in is through a city gate. Back in the day the city had a curfew and all the townspeople had to be back within the gates before they would be locked for the night. We walked thought the town hall, admired medieval architecture, visited the western town gate, enjoyed a sunset view of Rothenburg from outside the city wall, shopped German souvenirs and mouthwatering treats, visited a Medieval Crime Museum, walked the city wall and almost bumped our head, walked the famous Plönlein street at night, and joined The Night Watchman Tour – the greatest walking tour ever!
