California, here we come! NYC -> MSP -> LAX…East coast making our way to the west coast, and looking forward to a week of sunshine in LA! Because we like to live on the edge, I took R and flew Spirit Airlines “the worst airline in America”. Miraculously, we had no flight delays and overall everything was great, although the return flight would be a different story. Meanwhile, Cole took S on Delta and they were upgraded to First Class! R met a new friend on the flight, a puppy with his same name! We met up with Cole and S at baggage claim, then we were on our way.
Our hotel was a few blocks away from Santa Monica Pier. As soon as we were checked in we were off to the beach!
Milkshakes after the beach at In-N-Out Burger. It’s great to be back in LA!
The next morning, while Cole was at work, I took the boys to Ralph’s for a donut breakfast. It’s silly to be nostalgic about Ralph’s, but it reminds me of when my family lived in LA!
We loved the view of the iconic Santa Monica pier and Ferris wheel:
June gloom is a real thing in LA! Cloudy skies on the beach, but we had a great morning playing in the sand!
Exploring Santa Monica Pier…
Wake up! He’s capable of sleeping anywhere…
The following day in the morning I took the boys and enjoyed walking Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade for some great shopping. Then we met with friends to play at the beach – so grateful they made the drive and brought beach toys to share! In the evening after meeting Cole after work, we endured rush hour traffic from Santa Monica to my old neighborhood of La Cañada Flintridge! Look at those cars!
We met up with friends for pizza on Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, my old stomping grounds! Four kids and four adults – how did we all fit in one tiny booth? Loved seeing them and the pizza was amazing! I also had to make a quick stop at La Cañada High School! We used to each lunch everyday on that step under the library. So many memories here!
While in Santa Monica, we also met up at Santa Monica Pier with cousins! Thanks for making the drive to meet up with us! Love catching up with family! The kids loved playing in the water! We also had the best brunch in town at Santa Monica’s M Street Kitchen.
On our last day we grabbed some ultra gourmet and delectable treats from Sidecar Donuts in downtown Santa Monica, checked out some local playgrounds, and swam at the hotel swimming pool and hot tub. A perfect end to our Santa Monica trip!
