We started off the morning at Hong Kong’s old Western Market. The Western Market is one of Hong Kong’s oldest buildings and is now home to cute little souvenir stores, fabric shops and tailors. This is where I had my wedding dress made, and we spent the morning finishing up my final dress fitting (and the dress still fits…whew!) For lunch we found a good Chinese restaurant. Our lunch was so tasty! Lettuce wraps, steamed pork buns, beef noodle, and chicken fried rice. After lunch we made the 45 min. ride on a double decker bus to Stanley Market. Stanley caters more towards the tourist crowd where you can find typical Chinese souvenirs and bargain shopping. Stanley Market is located on the beautiful Stanley Waterfront. It was a gorgeous day. We loved the Maritime Museum and its red lanterns. The Stanley Waterfront is lined with all sorts of restaurants and good shops. After Stanley, our next stop was Repulse Bay Beach. This is one of Hong Kong’s most popular beaches. The Repulse Bay is one of Hong Kong’s most iconic buildings. The hole in middle of the building was left for feng–shuipurposes.
View from the top of the double decker bus. This was also my school bus route to school when we lived in Hong Kong! We lived in the Midlevels and our bus would take this road to Hong Kong International School in Repulse Bay (elementary school) and Tai Tam (middle school).
We always drove by this Sikh temple on our way home.
