Scotland with Kids: Stirling

From the Scottish Highlands, we drive home towards Edinburgh and stop in Stirling along the way. The castle on the cliff looks just like Edinburgh! We drive up to the castle doors. The castle is surrounded by an old city on the hill, and even though it’s late afternoon and the castle is closed, we park and walk around. The old city streets are cobblestone and the buildings are impressive. We learned that Stirling was an old capital city of Scotland and it is known as the Gateway to the Highlands. Kids love playing with the two large black cannons on the city street. We walk around to see the castle, then we walk down the street to Cafe Aina for dinner. Greek food and breakfast – perfect for what we need! Cheap too! Everyone’s happy and we walk back to the car and continue our drive to Edinburgh. Kids all fall asleep in the car as we listen to Audible and we arrive in Edinburgh at night. We park the car, unload bags, and get kids ready for bed. V and C pack up and clean up to prepare for Airbnb check out in the morning. It was a magical day – so worth getting up bright and early for a gorgeous day in the Highlands of Scotland!
