Cole was in Taipei, Taiwan for an interview on Friday and was able to spend the weekend gallivanting about the city. To his surprise, the hotel was fortuitously located within walking distance of my parents’ favorite restaurant where he and a hoary group of elderly Taiwanese patrons shared a table and dined on zhua bing and jiaozi amidst the edacious crowd during the lunch hour rush. Thanks mom for sending the address! There was also a movie theater in between the hotel and restaurant showing the latest American films, and as it is a luxury we do not often get to enjoy where we live, Cole made sure to take full advantage. He also ascended the 383.4 m (1,258 ft) to the indoor observatory at the top of Taipei 101 which formerly reigned as the world’s tallest building from 2004 to 2010.
