Did you know you can learn how to scuba dive inside a giant crater in Utah? The Crater at the Homestead Resort is a 10,000 year old geothermal hot spring hidden inside a 55 foot limestone rock. A hole at the top allows for sunlight and fresh air, while inside is warmed by the mineral water at around 90 – 96 degrees Fahrenheit year round! Visitors walk through a tunnel at ground level leading to the decks built over the crystal clear waters. Guests can swim, snorkel, scuba dive, take a stand up paddle board (SUP) yoga class, or enjoy a self guided tour. The Homestead Crater is the only warm-water scuba certification destination in the lower 48 states!
The Crater is located at The Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah. From Park City, it is a very scenic and pleasant 25 minute drive. When I lived in Utah, my family would often drive 1 hour from Salt Lake City to visit the Homestead Resort and Park City in the summer months. One of my favorite memories!

You can climb to the top of the limestone rock and look down at the water inside!

Stairs leading to the hole at the top! My kids thought it was so cool because it’s like a volcano!
