We spent a whole day exploring temples, shrines and other interesting sights found in our own backyard here in Tokushima. We started with Ryozen-ji, the Buddhist temple which marks the beginning of the famous Shikoku Pilgrimage.
Next, we visited a beautiful Shinto shrine hidden in the mountains.
The Glasses Bridge
The German Bridge
We also stopped at the German House where we learned about German POWs in Tokushima during the war.
And finally we visited Gokuraku-ji, the second temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage.
After sightseeing all day, we went to Kitajima Fuji Grand for shopping, dinner and a movie. We had dinner at our favorite pizzeria Ipsilon, followed by a movie at Cinema Sunshine. It was a great way to end the day. Going to the movies in Japan is also quite interesting in that when the movie ends everyone stays until the entire credits have finished rolling.
