We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of Japan. We love the outdoors, so living on Shikoku seems to be the perfect fit for us. While most of the country spends Golden Week traveling to touristy cities or out of the country, we decided to avoid the overwhelming crowds and outrageous ticket prices by spending time exploring more of our little island of Shikoku. It turns out that some of Japan’s best rafting is found right here. On Monday morning we snagged a couple of last minute openings for a rafting trip down the Yoshinogawa River in the scenic Oboke Gorge. The timing worked out perfectly, the weather was gorgeous, and we had a blast with everyone at Happy Raft. We will definitely be back for more this summer! We hope you enjoy the pics from our rafting adventure!
Things to Know:
*The Yoshinogawa River is one of Japan’s most well known destinations for whitewater rafting
*Several outdoor adventure companies offer guided tours on the river
*Half day and full day rafting tours available
*We chose a company called Happy Raft for our guided tours and they were excellent
Here’s my group making our way down the Yoshinogawa River.
Cole’s group went for an unintended swim after flipping their raft!
But they had a lot of fun! How about some cliff diving?
Cole and I jump on the count of three! Ichi, ni, san!

That’s Cole right up front.
