On our way to SFO! A little trick we tried when we booked our seats… we reserved the window and aisle seats in our row hoping to deter others from booking the seat in the middle – it worked! Our lap baby ended up with a seat all to himself and we appreciated the extra elbow room. Our hotel was conveniently located in San Francisco’s Financial District and literally around the corner from the iconic Transamerica Pyramid:
Since Cole was attending a business conference all day, Baby and I set out to explore San Francisco on foot. We walked through Chinatown where Baby garnered much attention from friendly shop and restaurant keepers – they all wanted to see the little guy and I loved the opportunity to speak Chinese with them.
I went crazy for all my favorite Chinese snacks including boba drinks, BBQ pork buns, and egg tarts. It made me so homesick for Asia!
Grant Avenue, one of the oldest streets in Chinatown:
Man on the street corner playing “Happy Birthday” on the erhu:
Yan’s Kitchen – a veritable hole in the wall with the best General Tso’s Chicken ever! Cole loved it so much he ate there 3 days in a row.
We walked through Little Italy and passed charming cafes and restaurants along the way:
We came across a giant hill and found Lombard Street:
We saw the turntable for the cable cars:
We made it to Fisherman’s Wharf just in time for lunch:
Visited the Maritime National Historical Park Visitor Center:
Sampled some free chocolate at Ghirardelli Square:
The rest of the afternoon was spent sightseeing along the piers – it was a beautiful day!
Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill:
