Summer in England: Trafalgar Square, Chinatown & Princess Diana Memorial Fountain in London

After breakfast and morning school work, the kids write postcards to family and friends. We say goodbye to Cole at work and walk to the bus stop and find a mailbox on the way. The kids are so excited to mail the postcards! We bus to Trafalgar Square. The kids love the giant lion sculptures and play with the fountain. From there we walk to Chinatown and eat delicious handmade Beijing dumplings for lunch. Each kid ate their own order of dumplings and some noodles. It was so delicious and the boys were so hungry. The owner of the shop loved talking to the boys in Chinese and joking around with us. She called her friend over and told her about our kids and they were both so sweet and laughed and joked with them. We said thank you for the delicious meal and goodbye. Across the way we go to the Chinese bakery for some treats. It is so nostalgic for me! And it reminds me of my mom! Each kid chooses a dessert – vanilla swirl cake, slice of chocolate cake, and slice of coconut cake. Of course they have to share with me. We eat outside at table under the red Chinese lanterns. The kids loved it! We walk to Leicester Square, find a bus stop to bus to Hyde Park. We enjoy a walk through Hyde Park to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. It’s a hot and sunny afternoon, perfect for playing in the water. We take off socks and shoes, and kids play in the fountain the entire rest of the afternoon. It is so fun and the perfect day to cool off at the fountain, play in the grass and enjoy the sunshine. When it’s time to head home, the kids change into their dry shirts, put on socks and shoes, and walk along The Serpentine Lake to the bus stop down by Royal Albert Hall. We bus home, and I accidentally get us off the bus too early, and we end up walking 30 mins home! The kids were so tough! We make a delicious dinner at home, and put the kids to bed after a fun day.
