Summer in England: Night at the British Museum in London

We enjoy a family brunch at a great restaurant on Northcote Road near Clapham Junction in Battersea. Cole works while V and the boys visit the Battersea Library and read Mr. Men books (V used to read growing up) such as Mr. Tickle, Mr. Forgetful, Mr. Nonsense, Mr. Funny, Little Miss Sunshine, and Little Miss Bossy. S especially loves them because they’re so silly. We walk back home in the hot sun, and order groceries from Morrisons with Deliveroo. The boys want to try making tea sandwiches for lunch. We had cucumber tea sandwiches, and even peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches, with strawberries, salt and vinegar “crisps”(potato chips), and chocolate Digestive cookies. After lunch we walk to Chivalry Road playground in Battersea. Kids love playing so much. A lot of school kids join during after school hours and it was so much fun for the boys to play with others. A boy joins R on the seesaw and asks R how much he weighs. R says 70 pounds, British boy is confused (because they don’t use pounds for their weight here!) Try to figure out how many “stones”. Boys play so much they don’t want to leave but it’s hot and sunny so we head home for water and to meet Cole after work. After work we all take the bus and tube to the British Museum for nighttime admission. Our boys love the Egyptian exhibits, Roman mosaics, Viking treasures, and exhibit on clocks. We stay until museum closes at 8:30PM then walk to a great Chinese restaurant for dumplings, fried rice, handmade noodles, and mapo tofu. We all practice speaking Chinese and I was really impressed with Cole and the boys! We walk to the underground station, and tube then bus home. Kids go to bed at 11 pm! Late night but so fun!
